Farmer's Market?

Last week, I saw posters for the Salt Lake City Downtown Farmer's Market.

Doesn't that look like it would be so much fun and so yummy? So, Friday night, we went to bed with visions of fresh produce dancing in our heads. We hoped to find everything necessary to make fresh salsa for the most fabulous nachos ever. We woke up early so we could get the first pick of everything. Every so often, we had to wipe the drool from our salivating mouths as we anticipated the scrumptious selections awaiting us.

We entered the ginormous market and walked down one long row of...nothing related to produce- just some plants, a few herbs, and flea market wares. Ridiculously optimistic, we turned a corner, only to find...nothing related to produce. This turning of corners continued on for some time until we realized we had gone through the whole market and found NOTHING for our fabulous salsa. We were so terribly disappointed. BUT, not to let something like a non-existent Farmer's Market dampen our spirits, we wandered around downtown and found a chalk festival going on!

These first two were the first ones we saw. We thought they were pretty good, but they just got better and better as we went along.

I don't know if you can tell, but this one is 3D.

This was just the very beginnings of one, but I was incredibly impressed. Look how close the chalk artist is at getting it to look like the painting by Dirck van Baburen.

And now for some photos of your favorite people in the world: US!

The thing that I always like about the Farmer's Market is the home made soap! Did they have any of that?
The sidewalk art is amazing! Where downtown was that?
